Being Present in Chaos and Peace: Tortoise and the Hare
Limited Capacity seats available

This discussion and experiential practice provides a fundamental understanding and awareness of your state of being – your resiliency. Develop your awareness of when and how to self-regulate. Gain an understanding of the bodymind’s energy and communication systems (nervous systems, brain functions and vestibular system)- resiliency in all energetic beings is the ability to appropriately vacillate between the Sympathetic and Parasympathetic Nervous Systems as life demands. The experiential practice uses evidence based Trauma-Conscious Yoga protocol which includes asana, pranayama and meditation to develop your inner awareness - proprioceptive and kinesthetic senses.

Climb the Famous Telluride Via Ferrata - [$]
Limited Capacity seats available
Adding this requires a ticket.

Purchase a Climb the Via Ferrata ticket and try adding this again after you obtain one.
For a breathtaking, unique adventure, look no further than the Telluride Via Ferrata. The route precariously traverses rock faces up to 600 feet above the forest below, exhilaratingly exposed in sections that would be impassable without the steel cables and scattered steel holds along the way. The Telluride Via Ferrata provides unmatched views of Bridal Veil Falls (the highest free falling waterfall in Colorado) the town of Telluride far below, and the surrounding peaks of the San Juan mountains.  Think of it as a hike along a sheer cliff, with steel rungs to hold onto when the going gets steep.

Mountain Trip is Telluride's only guide service accredited by the American Mountain Guides Association and when accompanied by our highly trained and experienced guides, the Telluride Via Ferrata is a perfect adventure for visitors of a wide range of abilities, albeit not particularly for those who have a fear of heights.

Mountain Trip will provide you with bottled water and snacks such as granola bars upon request, but ideally bring your own water bottle. We suggest you wear comfortable clothing appropriate for a half day hike on the day of your trip. It is important that all guests wear closed sole shoes with good traction, such as trail running shoes or light hiking boots. If there is a chance of precipitation, please add a light rain jacket to your kit. If you'd like to bring a daypack to carry extra items, please do so. We will have some light daypacks to loan out, should anyone want to borrow one. Definitely bring a camera or smart phone, as the views and setting is stunning!

Gratuity is never expected, but always appreciated. If you had a great time and feel that your guide did an exceptional job, a small demonstration of your appreciation would be welcome. Rough guidelines on gratuity would be roughly 10-15% of the trip cost.

Please purchase a $175 Climb the Via Ferrata ticket here: Climb the Via Ferrata

What Yoga Truly Offers: Science & Yoga Meet
Limited Capacity seats available

As modern science catches up to ancient wisdom, there is a more holistic view of the interrelationships found in our bodies that is transforming the traditional, mechanistic view of the body and its “separate” biological systems. The latest scientific research shows an extraordinary inner-net that weaves together what were once thought to be independent systems.

During this immersion, we will look at the “provable” science of yoga’s influence on all of us—specific, relevant knowledge of anatomy and physiology that is helpful for yoga practitioners to know, and explore new science that shares more in common with the spiritual notion of “grace”—a phenomenon that comes from beyond the five-sensory world we know that gravity operates within.

We will also delve into three principles of practice to awaken the subtle body – 1) Back Body Breathing, 2) Spine Mechanics, and 3) Fundamentals of Flow, which gives you  access to the true healing potential yoga offers.

In Ayurveda we have the concept of Dinacharya- Daily Movement or 'Following the day'. By observing the rhythm of life, the ancient physicians of India saw the patterns of humans and animals as the day flowed. When you are feeling effects of stress and imbalance the first place to look for rebalance is your daily routine. Living in harmony with the biological rhythm is a stabilizing practice bringing calm, rest and clarity. We breakdown the day with practical and modern applications for your daily life.

Wait...Where Are We Going?
Limited Capacity seats available

Are you feeling that something is missing in modern yoga today? Are you craving a practice that both honors and offers insights into you and your experience? A practice that is not focused solely on the poses, but also on the process of yoga as seen through the poses? If you answered yes to any of the above, then this class is for you. Through Nicki’s experienced teaching of Maya Yoga, you will set yourself on the right track for the weekend while learning to make the connection between the alignment of the poses and the alignment of the mind. Maya is a Sanskrit word that means “illusion” and refers to what we think and perceive as real in this world. Patanjali, the original OG yoga psychologist said that the easiest way to access our psyche is through our physical tissue. The asanas(poses) are a means and a vehicle to transformation because they give us practical tools that we can use everyday in our yoga practice. Through both Dynamic and restorative yoga practices Nicki will lead you through an experience of yoga in an intelligent, compassionate, supportive, and often humorous way that will leave you transformed and ready for the weekend!

Gangsters of Gratitude Flow
Limited Capacity seats available

In this Vinyasa Flow, we will turn up the music and be anchored right in the middle of a moving meditation fueled by the gratitude within your heart!  The gifts of yoga are endless and we all have so much to be grateful for. The more grateful we are, the more present we become, and as a result, the more we can give back to the world.  Class will begin with a meditation to activate that big gratitude that lies within. This will lead us into some challenging but fun flow sequencing, standing postures/balancing postures, inversion/arm balancing options and seated/finishing postures to reground us back in the gratitude practice that changes the way we see the world!

Tea Ceremony at Mountain Gate Teahouse
Limited Capacity seats available

At Living Tea, we relate to tea as a way of life. We believe that the craft, ritual, art and meditation of tea is a celebration of our relationship to Nature. By studying the way of tea, we learn principles from nature that allow for greater connection to ourselves and the world around us. Each year, we travel throughout Asia to carefully select the finest quality leaves. Living Teas are seed-grown in their native environments, free of any chemical fertilizers, pesticides or weed-killers. Our passion for old-growth and aged tea inspires our continual exploration. The name of each Living Tea speaks to an inherent quality in those particular leaves, whether it be the mountain of origin, terroir, flavor, aroma or impression. Each tea has a story and every cup represents an imaginary voyage.

This is a Donation Based Class.

Limited Capacity seats available

Enhance your transformational weekend with a Sound Bath Shavasana where your body and mind are immersed in live meditative vibrational sounds of a Paiste gongs, quartz crystal and bronze singing bowls, as well as other ancient instruments. The sound vibrations emitted by the gongs and the Tibetan bowls send signals that are interpreted at the biological, energetic and emotional levels, directing the cells to develop in a homeostatic rather than unbalanced manner.  Gong Baths bring an intense sense of well-being and re-stabilize the balance of energies.

“If we accept that sound is vibration and we know that vibration touches every part of our physical being, then we understand that sound is heard not only through our ears but through every cell in our bodies.”

Enjoy relaxing into the powerful healing and reverberating waves of sound and resound to massage, cleanse and regenerate the nervous and glandular systems. Simply lie back and have your own experience!

Restoring the Spirit Muscle: Anatomy of the Psoas
Limited Capacity seats available

The pathways in which Prana flows can be dictated by our skeletal structure. Knowledge of anatomy can be especially empowering in a yoga practice - if you can mindfully manipulate the skeleton you can use intelligent design to create a more rich, robust, and ultimately restorative practice. This yin/restorative style experiential workshop will blend subtle energetics with psychological self inquiry, recent science relating to fight or flight response, and embodied anatomy. Learn how to release your most intrinsic muscles, stabilize the pelvis, spread the sacrum, and lengthen the psoas to reset the vagal tone and surrender into the serenity state. Restore the tranquil rest response of the nervous system by learning to soften, stretch, and strengthen the Psoas. Learn the tools for structural restoration of your own unique anatomy to release accumulated trauma and tension and provide easier pathways to access rich restoration.

TRAVEL YOUR POSE
Limited Capacity seats available

We know how to use our legs subconsciously. But when we begin to wake them up, it creates efficiency throughout the entire body and the upper body no longer has to work so hard. Think: less neck strain, less back pain, less problems with the shoulders. It takes work to use the feet + legs with integrity and without defaulting into old patterns but through the work we wake up, leverage ourselves to feel lighter, and experience freedom.

Limited Capacity seats available

Take your practice to the water for a fluid and joyful return to our true nature surrounded by the beauty of the San Juans. In this fun, refreshing, dynamic, and all-levels SUP Yoga Workshop you'll be transported to a fluid and easeful plane of practice and being to explore and take part in the beauty of yoga on the water. We will enjoy floating through our nature-inspired practice in a nourishing and sustainable manner. We'll challenge ourselves to shift our perspective as we take our yoga practice from the mat and land to the water and flow with grace, mindfulness, and strength.  Vans will shuttle us 12 minutes each way to and from Elk's Lake in Mountain Village.  Total time on the water is approx. 1 hour 15 minutes.

GENERAL SUP YOGA INFO
Whether you are new to yoga or an advanced yoga practitioner, SUP Yoga provides an inclusive, rejuvenating, and fun new spin on the traditional yoga practice! It allows us to combine the physicality of Stand Up Paddle boarding and the beauty and elements of nature and floating on the water with the peace, presence, playfulness, and meditative aspects of our yoga practice. SUP Yoga provides a unique opportunity to explore our asana, pranayama, and meditation practices, while building new confidence and community on the water.

We‘re able to experience a total communion and connection with nature in a safe, accessible, relaxing, and meditative environment. It allows us to become more in tune with our yoga practice, our breath, and our sense of balance on the board, and in each asana. The confidence and courage we develop on the water and in our practice translates far beyond the paddleboard and mat and can positively affect our lives and our community in so many powerful ways. Let the water be your yoga mat and leave feeling confident, refreshed, and empowered!

Students first learn the basics of SUP by becoming familiar with mounting the board, paddle stroke and core stabilization. Once anchored, class begins with pranayama and meditation to integrate the pranic movement of the water element into the practice, followed by low center of gravity poses and continuing further into a vinyasa practice from there. **For those interested, session will end with photos of you in your favorite poses on the board so you have a memory to take home with you.

Please bring hat, swimsuit, water wicking layers or yoga clothes you like to practice in, water, and sunscreen.

Embracing the Unknown: Backward Bending Postures
Limited Capacity seats available

Some of the most important and effective yoga poses are the ones that extend the spine and bring freedom to the back. They of course are known as backbends and many people can be intimidated by them. Allow Nicki to lead you through a safe and effective yoga practice that will prepare you for the backward bending poses very well. Through Sun Salutations, standing poses and lunges, your body will be ready to do backbends like you’ve never done them before. Some poses that will be included, but not limited to, are standing back arch, salabhasana, dhanurasana, setu bandha sarvangasana, and urdhva dhanurasana. If needed, Nicki has an intelligent way of working with the props so they both support and propel you deeper into the pose in a safe way. This class will end with twisting postures to relieve the spine and a deep restful savasana to realign your body and mind. *asana, pranayama, props when needed*

GRAVITY & GRACE: Tools to Rewire Your Subtle Body
Limited Capacity seats available

Our mind is a powerful instrument, where we can realize everything is temporary and nothing is impossible. This is felt when we recognize it’s not about force, it’s about flow; it’s not about effort, it’s about non-effort; and it’s not about overcoming gravity, it’s about opening to grace.

With Gravity as a catalyst for movement physically, and Grace as its spiritual equivalent, this dynamic 3-part practice will support the gentle “rewiring” of your neural circuitry responsible for effortless motion, healing, and infinite possibilities. The result helps build refined levels of attention, focus, and sensitivity, and through consistent practice, builds flexibility, strength, and stillness naturally.

Exquisite Explorers! Your Inner Wilderness Awaits - [$]
Limited Capacity seats available
Adding this requires a ticket.

Purchase a Specialty Class Add On ticket and try adding this again after you obtain one.
Join us for a fluid and fun exploration on the water! Together we'll journey into the forests, mountains, oceans, and rivers of our own inner wilderness and inner ecology. We'll explore, celebrate, and embrace the natural beauty and topography of our own being.

The sounds act as the focal point, reducing and eliminating mind chatter, leading to a release of deep rooted tension and emotional blocks. Healing harmonics work to realign your entire system ~ A restorative bath of sound!

This experience is beneficial for anyone who wants to give themselves time for relaxation or gain the benefits of meditation, but has not yet learned how to access this state of being on their own. The sounds from the instruments assist you in reaching a deeper level, without knowing how to meditate. They are the vehicle that gives you the opportunity to go inward on your own terms, at your own pace. The experience is really about allowing the sounds to take you to a deeper place, making it easier to arrive in a relaxed state without complicating how to get there. Simply let go and just be with the whole sensory experience!

Discover the Way of "Forest Bathing"
Limited Capacity seats available

The Japanese philosophy of “shinrin-yoku (森林浴)”- ‘Forest Bathing’™ is a delicious practice that rejuvenates the body, soul, and spirit. Our animal bodies have always known the significance of nature connection as an essential condition for life, while our western minds' continue question where, how, and/or why accessing our wild self matters. Drawing upon the energy of Telluride's native trees, mountains, and flowing water, we will walk into Nature, discovering ways to bring our souls back into equilibrium. Our wild selves will discover how to find this soothing "forest" energy in our own home places. This yummy practice benefits anyone with injuries, high levels of stress, ones needing to be in beauty, or anyone needing a quiet moment. We will begin our exploration in the backyard of the TYF grounds and move to the San Miguel River.

Maya Yoga Vinyasa Fusion Flow
Limited Capacity seats available

This is a strong dynamic yoga class that incorporates all aspects of Maya Yoga including asana, pranayama, chanting, meditation, prayer, and deep relaxation, to leave you feeling recharged and inspired about your practice. Nicki likes to start the class slowly with poses that support the parasympathetic nervous system and then move slowly into seated chanting and pranayama. From there we will wake the body from the ground up, starting at the feet and moving through the legs, trunk, arms, and head. Sun salutations will be practiced to build internal heat and establish the harmonious flow of breath and movement known as “Vinyasa”. Standing poses are linked with the sun salutations to create the dynamic flow that is both detoxifying and rejuvenating. What happens from there is organic and may include backbends, forward bends, arm balances, inversions or hip openers depending on the students and the energy of the day. The end of the class will bring you back to yourself and leave you feeling more centered and grounded, especially after a long savasana with Nicki reading poetry to you. *asana, pranayama, chanting, props when needed*

Moon Cycle Asana
Limited Capacity seats available

Women have known since the dawn of time that we are connected to the moon, so why doesn’t our yoga practice reflect that beautiful cycle of energy? Let’s explore how to shift your practice from day to day, week to week, to follow the ups and downs of energy flow each month.

Beginning with a yoga nidra meditation to connect to our bodies, our wombs and the cycles naturally present within, we will then transition to studying the progression of the Moon’s cycle, and how to chart it, as well as what that does to the human body. From the quiet and intuitive energy of the New Moon, to the high and powerful energy of the Full Moon, and back again, our bodies and the way they move directly correlate to this path of the Moon in the heavens. After we have established what the cycle of the Moon feels like without and within, we will finish with a yoga class that reflects what it would be like to practice with that flow.

Beauty in the Basics! [$]
Limited Capacity seats available
Adding this requires a ticket.

Purchase a Specialty Class Add On ticket and try adding this again after you obtain one.
A deep and beautiful dive back into the basics and foundation of your yoga practice. Returning home to explore the subtleties, nuances, and intricacies of the blueprint poses and to where we began. We will begin to see how this heart-awakened thread of alignment and prana is so wonderfully carried and woven throughout each and every posture and element that we practice. Together we will lay the blueprint for more ease in our practice!

Foundation for Flight! Inversions and Arm Balances with Ease - [$]
Limited Capacity seats available
Adding this requires a ticket.

Purchase a Specialty Class Add On ticket and try adding this again after you obtain one.
Get grounded for confidence in arm balances and inversions. It's all in the set-up and in how we knowledgeably and gradually prepare for the pose! This workshop is for those wanting to further explore arm balances and inversions and for those who love them! In this SUP Yoga workshop we will shift perspective as we take our yoga practice to the water for a journey and adventure in the foundations and preparations for arm balances and inversions. We will explore poses that will both strengthen and prepare ourselves for flight. Proper and basic shoulder alignment will be established and built through simpler poses and carried onward to full arm balances and sustainable inversions. Students and teachers will be guided through a fluid and challenging sequence on the water that will prepare the foundation necessary to practice these poses with ease and freedom.

Enjoy a floating and well-rounded practice as we begin to invite our awareness and attention to the back of the body as we explore a variety of backbends on board. As BKS Iyengar says, "The front of the body can be seen with the eyes, but the back of the body can only be felt. That's why I say these are some of the most advanced postures, where the mind begins to look at the back." Let's flow into the space and experience of what can only be felt.

Organizing our lives around practices and ideas that connect us to our truest nature is a tradition as old as humanity. Sound Bath to Close the Weekend
Limited Capacity seats available

Close out your transformational weekend with a Sound Bath Savasana where your body and mind are immersed in live meditative vibrational sounds of a Paiste gongs, quartz crystal and bronze singing bowls, as well as other ancient instruments.

Enjoy releaxing into the powerful healing and reverberating waves of sound and resound to massage, cleanse and regenerate the nervous and glandular systems. Simply lie back and have your own experience!
